La Mexicana Albina - That's me!

Sometimes I think I was born on the wrong side of the border... or that my heart thinks that it is Mexican, although my body is definitely Gringa! Will I actually post to a blog, when I can barely bring myself to write once a month in my journal? We shall see...

My friends are rubbing off on me...

It seems like I have a lot of friends who homeschool. It's really only 3 families, but in my social circle, that's a lot. I admire them, and although I have always thought that I don't have enough patience to homeschool, the idea has been growing on me.

I have been looking at some materials, particularly one called Accelerated Achievement and as a resource it looks very interesting. I'm thinking of not homeschooling per se, but starting by supplementing what my kids learn at school to keep them on an accelerated path.I think that the schools here are all right, but I don't think they challenge the kids to really do their best.I want my kids to be able to excel, but more than that, I want them to love learning and have fun doing it!

We will see how it goes. In the meantime, I put the suggestion in last night at the school orientation, that I would like to see curriculum for the classes like those we used to get in college so that I could have an overview of what material the kids will be covering and when...

Kids are so funny!

I took DD#2 to the ENT specialist to see about getting her tonsils out, because she has problems snoring, grinding her teeth, lots of Strept throat, etc... While we were waiting for the doctor, she asked me. "What do they do with your tonsils after they take them out?"

I replied that I wasn't sure... They probably threw them away.

She considered that for a moment, then hopped down from her chair and walked across the room to the garbage can to cautiously peer inside... LOL

The two oldest get their tonsils out on the same day... scheduled for July 30th. School starts August 6th. We are praying for a speedy recovery!
